The Sound of Persistent Knocking...Seriously!
Revelation 3:20 says, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.”
“Hold your horses! I’m coming! I’m coming!”
Have you ever had that conversation with anyone? How about with Jesus? He’s asked you to open the door, to come spend time with Him, or to invite you to walk away from disobedience, and you have left Him standing there.
Instead of quickly letting Him in, you just find His knocking annoying. I’ve been there. But then I hear Him say, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him, and eat with him and he with me.”
My dad says 9 out of 10 people will ask you to eat if you come at dinner time. And that’s what Jesus hopes for too. He just wants to come eat with us--to be with us, to love us, to teach us. Even if that means some form of change in us--it’s so worth it when we realize that the God of the universe thinks we are worth His time and effort.
He’s knocking, brothers and sisters--will we make time to let Him in?
And there you go.
