Do we measure up? Seriously!
Matthew 7: 1-2 says, “Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you.”
Since we all have sinned and don’t really enjoy looking at our own sin too closely, it’s easy to measure our judgment in heaping proportions to others.
We, as Christians, often expect those who don’t know Christ to act the same as those who have the Holy Spirit living in them. We cast judgment thinking they should “know better”.
But 1 Corinthians 2:14 tells us “the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them because they are spiritually appraised.”
The power of God simply does not exist for those without Christ. So let’s not heap condemnation on those who don’t trust in Jesus. (I like to think of them as pre-saved.) It’s just like Jesus said: “they know not what they do”, and they can’t understand until we show and tell them how the Spirit of God can live in & through them.
The question is: will you and I measure up as people search for the truth in us?
And there you go!
