A Thrill Ride

Psalm 23:2b says, “He leads me beside the still waters.”

Yes, He leads me to the still waters, but sometimes I think the rapids look so fun and inviting. The excitement seems enticing, and it is thrilling for sure, but like all thrill rides, the new wears off and they become ordinary. I begin to want more thrills.

When that happens I have misunderstood this verse about still waters. It is life in Him that is continually thrilling and sustaining. If I sit with Him beside the still waters, my heart’s longing to know and love Him more will be filled. I will not need to be more and more entertained. He is better than life’s thrills. He is better than any entertainers I know. He has the Words of life. Where else could we go for this Truth alone!

He asks of us today, “Will you come with Me beside the still waters? I am the Living Water, and I will give you rest.”
