What Do You Treasure?
Luke 12:34 says, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
I treasure Jesus most of all. I feel certain you would say that too, if asked. But sometimes we treasure what we think will make us happy. I treasure things such as:
My kids’ safety
My heart’s desires
My wants for the future
My accomplishments of the past
But what if these were taken from me? Would I still treasure Jesus the most?
Jesus is my boss and He is your boss also if you know Him as Savior. He is a great boss because He cares about our children, our desires, wants and accomplishments.
Our God cares for each of us and wants what is best for us, our life and the lives of those we love. In fact, He loves them more than we do. Granted, it may be difficult to understand how He works sometimes, but we can be sure He can be trusted with everything.
Let the words of this hymn be your prayer today.
I’d rather have Jesus than silver or gold;
I’d rather be His than have riches untold;
I’d rather have Jesus than houses or lands;
I’d rather be led by His nail-pierced hand
Than to be the king of a vast domain
Or be held in sin’s dread sway;
I’d rather have Jesus than anything
This world affords today.
For where our treasure is, there will our hearts be also.
And there you go!
