A New Heart...Seriously!

Jeremiah 17:9 says, “The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?“ (NIV)

My heart is without a cure. It is sick and in need of a doctor. Out of it comes wickedness. My motives are all wrong without Jesus. I need Him for there even to be a possibility of having Godly thoughts and actions. That is why He tells us in John 15:5, “apart from me you can do nothing”.

On my own, I cannot think good things. I need the mind of Christ. On my own, I cannot renew my thinking. My thoughts need to be captured and taken captive so Christ’s thoughts can fill my mind.

The truth is, I don’t need to have medicine for my heart. I need a new heart, a transplant. His heart for mine. His life for mine.

And that is exactly what He offers. A new heart that will beat only in service for Him.

And there you go!

Thoughts: Are there times when your heart feels sick and beyond cure? Are you trying to fix it on your own? Have you asked God to take your thoughts captive and replace them with His own?

Prayer: Father, I am sick and in need of a heart transplant. I am desperate for You to renew my heart and mind so I can be filled with You. Give me a heart that will beat in service for You only. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
