No Fear
Psalm 23:4 says, “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.”
Shadows cannot hurt you. Seems basic enough to understand. So here’s the idea. I walk through the valley of the shadow of death — not the valley of death. The shadow doesn’t hurt me. It may look dark and looming; however, it actually gives me shade. And in the valley, Jesus is with me.
It’s like the hymn “Heavenly Sunlight” says…
Shadows around me
Shadows above me
Never conceal my Savior and Guide;
He is the light, in Him is no darkness,
Ever I’m walking close to His side
Heavenly Sunlight! Heavenly Sunlight!
Flooding my soul with glory divine;
Hallelujah! I am rejoicing,
Singing His praises, Jesus is mine!
So what do I have to fear? Not even death!
And there you go!
