Jesus Came
Philippians 2:8 says, “rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness”
Jesus humbled himself and came to die on the cross to save us from our sins. Today let’s think about the identity of Jesus. Fully God and fully man, he grew in his mother’s womb. All that power and majesty enclosed in such a small, dark, damp space, just to be born and die for all of us. Wow! And how did he do this, you may ask? Because he knew who he was.
Christine Caine tells a story about her daughter, Catherine Barbie. Every night from birth on, her daddy prayed over her and said, “Catherine Barbie, you are intelligent. You are beautiful. You can be anything you want to be.” On her first day of kindergarten, a boy took her teddy bear and said, “You are dumb and ugly.” Catherine Barbie squared back her shoulders and proclaimed “No, I’m not. Because my daddy says I am smart and beautiful.” Oh yes, Jesus did what he did because his daddy was with him and told him who he was. No one could convince him otherwise because his daddy said.
Do you know that your heavenly daddy, God Almighty, says that about you, too? If you are his, your identity is in Christ. You are smart and beautiful and loved. No matter what anyone else says or does to you.
And there you go!
