A Case of the “Wants”

Psalm 23:1 says, “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.”

That does not say, I should not want or I may not want. It says I shall not want.

What could I possibly want that God does not provide? I don’t know about you, but I have a lot of things I do not even need, let alone want.

I often try to get rid of, not get more stuff. But when I get rid of it, I see more stuff that I want. For instance, I cleaned out my closet of clothes only to buy more.

How about you? Do you ever find yourself with a case of the “wants”? The Lord is our Shepherd. There is no need for us to desire to accumulate so many things. He gives us all we need. What would it look like if we believed and said, “I shall not want”? I suspect we would start giving more, become less selfish, and more like the Shepherd. What is it that you want?

And there you go!
