In Right Standing...Seriously!

Matthew 5:20 says, “For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.” (NIV)

How can I be more righteous than the teachers who knew the law backward and forward, up and down? That is something we might wonder.

I know I have become righteous - right with God - by the blood of Jesus. I am whole by His sacrifice alone! The hymn writer, Robert Lowry, knew that when he penned the words to his hymn, “Nothing but the Blood”.

What can wash away my sin?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
What can make me whole again?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;

Refrain:
Oh! Precious is the flow
That makes me white as snow;
No other fount I know,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus!

I am righteous, in right standing with God because the blood of Jesus covers my sin. Praise God!
