Faith, Loyalty, & Redemption...Seriously!

Ruth 1:16 says, “Where you go I will go...Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God.”

I love Ruth and her declaration of loyalty to Naomi. Ruth was willing to give up her entire way of life to go with Naomi; even as bitter as Naomi was with God. Naomi’s two sons, one of which was Ruth’s husband, had died. Naomi’s husband was also deceased. They had all died in Moab—a foreign, pagan land where they never should have been. Now, Naomi saw no other choice but to go back to Israel and hope her kinsmen would care for her.

Ruth could have stayed with her family in Moab, but I have to believe that somewhere she had to have seen Naomi’s family’s faith in God. Because, even when her sister-in-law turned back to Moab, Ruth did not leave her mother-in-law, even after Naomi told her to stay.

But God had a plan—He always does—to redeem what Naomi and Ruth had lost. They simply needed to go home to find it.

Do you need His redemption today? My God can be your God, just turn to Him today.

And there you go.
